Qigong (Chi-Kung) At the
Shepherd’s Center Sessions
last 8 weeks and cost $32 for members and $40 for nonmembers Similar to yoga and the parent
of Tai Chi, Chi Kung is easy to do, with no special place or equipment
needed. Because it is flexible, the exercises can be easily modified for
those with limited movement ability, even those who are disabled and
confined to a wheel chair or bed. Regular
Chi Kung practice helps: v Reduce stress v Increase flexibility v Improve balance and stamina v Improve overall sense of
wellbeing v Improve digestion v Increase immune function

Chi Kung blends simple breath
work, self-massage, easy meditation and gentle movement in a holistic
system of healing exercise that dates back to earliest recorded times.

Body Recall with Susan Meny Use a chair as an exercise device! Through a series of movements
that gradually increase in challenge over the course of several weeks,
movements that were once thought lost become “recalled”. Functional moves are emphasized to
maintain the free range of motion that spells “quality of life”. This program has an educational component
not found in other forms of exercise.

Every class uses the same basic curriculum and is basic enough for a
beginner to join at any time. ƒResearch indicates that falls are a significant
cause of injuries in seniors.
Scientific research indicates Tai Chi may help reduce falls in
seniors. Tai Chi is a fun, gentle
and weight bearing exercise that may help improve
endurance, strength and flexibility. ‚Classes are 1 hour in length and appropriate for
most fitness levels. What to wear: Loose
